SCENES FROM A SASKATCHEWAN WINTER

We still have another few months of this. The dreaded cold. I promise outfit posts will resume soon, but today I drove back from my hometown to where I live now, and the usual 2 hour, 15 minute drive took over three hours. Blowing snow like crazy. So - by the time I got home the lighting was too poor!

Until then, enjoy these wintery photos that I took. It looks way more magical in photos than how it actually is!

TODAY'S ANOTHER YESTERDAY

My camera arrived in the mail today (Canon Rebel T3i)! I was so excited to receive it. It came right as I was about to head out the door to go to school. I immediately tore the box open and started charging it so it would be ready to go when I was done school. Then, after I finished class, I had to head home to visit my parents and my grandmother, which is 2.5 hours away. So it wasn't until I arrived here that I was able to start playing! By then, the lighting was terrible and I was left with flash. But, without further ado, here are some of the photos I took today. It's going to be a long time before I figure out all the manual settings, but so far I have been having fun.

My parents always have the loveliest fresh flowers in a vase on the coffee table.

My grandmother's ring. I just love this on her hand! She is going back to Chile on Friday after spending six months here in Canada.

My grandmother was preparing to chop the cilantro for our supper.

Quick self-portrait after the battery charged. Still in my winter coat - no time to take it off!

And the camera itself! Taken with my iPhone.

sigh you have probably noticed that I love editing my photos and giving them a slight vintage touch.

Thanks so much for sticking around these past few months while I have been absent! Regular outfit posts will resume soon, as well as more product reviews, and definitely some YouTube videos.

Take care,
xo Raquel

NEW CAMERA ON THE WAY

Alright, so I know I said I would be back this week with outfit posts, but that has been put on hiatus for a few more days! I found out yesterday that the camera I have been really wanting was on sale. My older sister (also my BFF) was SO KIND and ordered it for me. As a graduation present she is paying for 1/3, and then she is lent me the money for the other 2/3, for me to pay her back when I can afford it. I am eternally grateful. SHE IS AMAZING!

So I'm switching out my old (circa 2006) Olympus E-Volt e500 DSLR, and got a Canon Rebel t3i DSLR. This one has amazing HD video as well, so you can bet I will also be posting some videos! I am beyond excited, and beyond grateful to my sister. It should be arriving sometime next week, and I couldn't be more excited.

See you again soon! With great photos!

I'M (ALMOST) BACK

Nearly two months has passed since my last post, and I am truly apologetic for that. I'm not sure that anyone missed me. I stopped posting at a time when my number of followers was starting to grow, and I hope that I can maintain my followers, and continue to gain more as I begin to post again. I am hoping that next week I will be able to get into regular posting again. I am becoming more and more inspired, and am getting out of my 'style rut'.

I have been posting my old outfit photos to Instagram (follow me @rrcoolv) where many of my 'real life' friends have been liking my photos. I think this will help me to be less embarrassed to get people to take outfit photos of me, and I will be able to share with my friends and family my fashion blog. Fashion is extremely important to me, and I hope to one day work in the fashion industry in some way, shape, or form, so maintaining a blog, however small or large it may become, I feel will be crucial to my success.

So, I hope to get back into regular posting next week. I might drag my boyfriend out this weekend to take photos of me. He might groan, but he will do it for me!

Until then, enjoy these Instagram photos of mine. I use PicFX and Blender for most of my image editing, and I don't tend to use the Instagram filters.

Keeping warm and cozy in my faux fur.

Mildly creepy.

I hope I don't give you nightmares.

First major snowfall of the year... had to do one of these photos.

Union 7 is a design company that I am hoping to launch in the new year. I have been doing websites for different people and different organizations, plus I make posters for people on a really regular basis. I hope to combine my love for design and for fashion to make Union 7. I am graduating university in December, then I hope I will have the time to commit to launching my dream.

Thanks for sticking around and I will be back very soon.

Sending much love,
xo Raquel
