SAFARI

As you may (or may not) know, I spent summer of 2011 working in Zambia. It was a really cool project that I was working on, and I gained some really good experience. At the end of my 4-month placement, I was able to take vacation, so some friends and I went on safari! I went to Chobe National Park in Botswana. I've been feeling really nostalgic lately, so enjoy some of my safari photos.

Notice anything funny about this one? A "fifth leg" perhaps?

Thanks for looking at my photos! Have you ever been on safari?

DIDN'T I, MY DEAR?

Shirt: Forever 21
Blazer: H&M
Skirt: Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21
Shoes: MyHotShoes
Ring: jwlry
Lips: Fashion Nomad by MAC

I've been having a heck of a time these days trying to figure out what to wear to school. One minute it's cold, the next minute the sun is shining. I figure that this outfit would get the job done today because of the thin tights, and the blazer that can be taken off if I get too hot walking from building to building, class to class, on campus.

I lucked out this morning with one of my classes getting cancelled. I was so happy to read that email from my professor this morning. I am swamped with homework and extra-curriculars already! One week from now I will be a lot less busy, and I can't wait for that day to come.

I got a good response from people on last blog post, everyone had mixed emotions about the weather they were experiencing in their different parts of the world. I guess we all want the weather we don't have!

Take care everyone. Thanks for reading!

BACK TO BASICS

Dress: Forever 21
Scarf: Forever 21
Jacket: ONLY
Shoes: MyHotShoes
Lips: MAC Speed Dial

Oh boy! All of a sudden today it got to be really cold and quite windy. The sun is supposed to be shining again soon, but until then it's back to my fall/winter basics of dresses and scarves. Just last post I was saying how bored of dresses I was, but now I'm eating my words. They're so perfect for this weather, because you can just add more and more layers.

I ordered online from Forever 21 the other day, so I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of a bunch of new skirts! I can't wait... I hope I have good tops in my closet to pair them with. If not, I guess I will be making a trip to Value Village for some vintage blouses.

What's the weather like where you live? If you say it's hot, I envy you!

GET BRAVE

Shirt: Forever 21
Skirt: La Vie Lente
Sandals: Costa Blanca
Bracelets: Aldo
Lips: Pink Nouveau by MAC

It's been awhile since I have posted a more feminine look. My outfits as of late tend to have a lot of black/tight/denim/studs/leather, simply because that's what I have been drawn to. I used to be a dress-fanatic, but I got bored of always purchasing dresses. I found that I was no longer being creative with my outfit choices - because I just threw on a random dress, my regular accessories, some sort of shoe, then walked out the door. Once winter hits though, I will be back in my beloved dresses, because they allow me to look put together, yet be lazy all in one!

Is there anything you once wore all the time that you've been steering away from lately?

THEY TAKE AWAY THE LONELY DAYS

Tank Top: Forever 21
Denim Top: Vintage (DIY bleach and studs)
Shorts: Volcom
Shoes: La Vie Lente

Summer is slowly inching away, and soon will be the days of thick tights/leggings, lots of layers, beanies, and winter coats. I'm really not ready for it, and am loving the last bit of summer. The other morning it was quite chilly, so I had to put on this thin pair of tights before leaving the house

I have been quite busy lately, even though school has only JUST started, with designing websites for people, planning a gala, and designing some posters and other promo material for different businesses/charities/people. I'm glad I have all this extra work at the beginning of the semester though, because soon I will be drowning in readings and papers.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I was working hard, and only spent Saturday night hanging out with friends.

REPLAY

Shirt: Forever 21
Riding Pants: American Apparel
Jacket: ONLY
Shoes: MyHotShoes
Necklace: Forever21

All of these items have been worn in very recent outfit posts... but they're just so comfortable. It has been getting pretty cold here. I am SO not ready for summer, but I have a feeling my riding pants will help make winter bearable. They're really warm and cozy... I have a feeling I will be wearing them lots with oversized sweaters and knitwear!

I'm really busy running around doing errands this weekend, so I have to keep this post short!

Thanks for reading!

MAC Fun Finds Mattene Lipstick Review

Fun Finds is a light pink nude shade from the MAC StyleSeeker collection. It's a Mattene base, which means it's semi-matte and not nearly as drying as the other matte bases from MAC. It's really creamy and soft, and glides really well over my lips!

I'm not used to wearing nude shades -- but I've been trying to get into them! As you can see, on the left-side photo, my lips are really pigmented on their own. It's really tough for me to find a nude shade, and I'm not completely sold on this one. Maybe I will get used to it!

If you're in the market for a nude lipstick, I would head to your local MAC counter or store and give this one a go. It's not going to look great on everyone (like me, for example) but it goes on so nicely and really feels good on the lips!

I JUST FELL IN LOVE (AND I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF)

Dress (Worn As Skirt): Forever 21
Sweater: ONLY
Jacket: Le Chateau
Shoes: MyHotShoes

It's starting to get colder here, and although I love wearing layers, after months of hot summer weather, it seems as though I have completely forgotten how to layer my clothes! My bedroom was a disaster zone after trying to put an outfit together.

I bought this light pink lace bodycon dress ages and ages ago off the Forever 21 website, then never wore it because I was very happy with how it fit, or the ruching down the side... I'm actually quite happy with the way it looks under this black sweater though!

Today was my first day of class. It went pretty well! I enjoyed it... but the first week or so is always enjoyable. I'll be in mega-stress zone soon, I'm sure.

Take care and thanks for reading!

THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT I KNOW

Denim Top: Vintage (DIY bleaching & studs)
Cardigan: Vintage (belonged to my grandpa)
Pants: American Apparel Riding Pants
Boots: MyHotShoes
Ring: jwlry
Bracelets: A market stall in Chile
Lips: MAC Coral Bliss

Hello again! I always start doing really well with posting regularly, and then big things come up where I lose time. Well, I'm back for another post.

I found this denim button-up top at Value Village one day, and I knew I had to have it and customize it. It used to be really dark wash, but I bleached it to the colour I want. The colour isn't very uniform - but I think it adds some character. Then, I followed the studded collar trend, and added some much loved studs.

I ordered these boots from MyHotShoes. Oh my, I had never ordered from them before but they have super cheap footware, and it ships quite quickly. I bought two pairs of boots and they are both so comfortable. I can't wait to wear these boots with a floral print dress and a leather coat.

I hope you had a good labour day weekend! I spent mine at my cabin, at a football game (the Saskatchewan Roughriders demolished the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 52-0!), and going to various appointments. Classes start up again tomorrow... I'm semi-excited.

Take care!
xo, Raquel.
